TEMPEST HANDHELD MULTIFUNCTION DEVICE

  • The following information should help get you started quickly!FIRST THINGS FIRST – PRESS THE POWER BUTTON ON THE TOP LEFT SIDE OF THE UNIT TO POWER ON!!
  • ENVIRO page – Environmental Readings including Temperature, Humidity, Dewpoint, and Barometric Pressure
    On this page there is an option to turn on an alarm that will give a voice alert indication along with changing
    the temperature reading to RED until the alarm is turned off or the temperature returns to being within the set point.
  • NRG Speech page – This page will initiate the NRG speech function that will utilize the mix of environmental and
    E Field detection to move the word pointer to one of the many words or phrases, etc. that are selectable on the device.
    By using the Mode button, you can go between the 10,000 most spoken English words to 29000 English Words and Phrases,
    Phrases Mode and Alpha Mode. Using the Clear Button, you can clear the history and Current Word Windows.
  • E Field Page – This page will show you the static E Field in estimated mV/m (millivolts per meter) being detected near field to the unit.
     The meter will show a visual representation on the bar graph (higher level indicated on bar graph at 200 due to exposure however the unit will measure up to 4096mv) of the measured static millivolts per meter.
    (This is not a Magnetometer, but can be affected directly by fluctuating magnetic EMF)
  • Internal Real Time Clock for keeping the time even after power off. Unit will be ready within seconds of power on
    without having to adjust the time from the settings page!
  • Settings Page – this page is accessible by clicking anywhere on the banner with the wrench, time, and battery level indicators
    located on the ENVIRO page.
    On this page you can set the time and date as well as the brightness and volume of the speech.
    There is also an adjustment for temperature compensation for calibration of temperature irregularities.
    Default is set to 0.
    Once the page is exited the new time will be shown and is saved upon changing a value.
  • USB battery charging and operation. Unit can be charged and/or powered by the Type C USB port on the side
    of the unit. Battery level is shown on the screen to the right of the time. Typical usage runtime is 3-5 hours.
    **Extend the time with a power bank or USB Wall charger.
  • Micro-SD card logging will be done if a microSD card is detected. Logs are written to the card ~ every 1 second.
    WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND a HC class 10 or similar high speed SPI micro-SD card. Device overall performance will be impacted by
    using lower quality cards.
  • Firmware is future updatable! Via the micro-SD card. Simply copy the firmware file that you have downloaded to the
    root of the micro-SD card and power on or reset the unit. You will see the firmware update screen if successful.
    DO NOT POWER OFF DURING UPDATES. Follow on screen instructions.
  • Internal Battery is a LiPo 3.7v – 500mah Battery, Normal run time is 3-5 Hours depending on usage.

FIRMWARE UPDATE INSTRUCTIONS:

  • First ensure that you are using a good MicroSD card, Sandisk SDXC or SDHC or similar high speed card not more than 32GB..
  • If you have not had the Real speech, then download the Latest Real Speech File (0.90) above and Unzip it to the SD card and skip the next step.
  • Copy the “firmware.bin” file to the root of the MicroSD card. It will not work if copied into a folder. (name has to be exactly “firmware.bin”)
  • Ensure you have enough battery power prior to update, it is fairly fast but to be sure try to have at least 25%.
  • Insert MicroSD card into device and power on the unit.
  • You will see a screen that indicates that the Firmware is updating. DO NOT POWER OFF AT THIS POINT!! (*If you don’t see this screen, check MicroSD card Quality)
  • Wait for completion, the unit will show the title screen with an alert to reboot unit. Do so by powering off and then back on, or by pressing the lower reset button.
    **Best results are obtained from a power cycle..
  • Firmware update file will be removed from the MicroSD card after successful update.
  • Enjoy the new updates..!!
